About Matt Furey
Matt Furey is world class martial artist and athlete who was grew up in Iowa. He began competing in swimming and wrestling when he was eight years old - and through dedicated practice, became a champion in each sport. In wrestling he won an NCCA II title in 1985 - and in 1997, after winning three national kung fu titles in the art of Shuai-chiao, he traveled to Beijing, China, and defeated the Chinese at their own game - winning a world championship - the first American and foreigner to ever do so. Afterward, Furey channeled his martial energy into the writing of books and courses - as well as conducting sold out seminars and coaching programs. To date he has sold over 500,000 books and programs worldwide and has shared the stage with many of today's top speakers.
In 1998, Furey was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He has been featured in Black Belt, Inside Kung Fu, GQ, Martial Arts & Combat Sports and many other publications.
Furey and his wife Zhannie, have two children. They live in Tampa, Florida as well as Hainan Island, China. |
